2023 - Frank Phippen

Frank Phippen is this year's First Pitch Honoree.

Forty-seven years ago, Frank was a part of the youth baseball and softball organization that was in charge of going to local schools to spread the word about the summer program.

He visited Garnavillo, Guttenburg, Mederville, and other nearby communities and spoke in classrooms to get kids signed up to play ball. Back then, it wasn't uncommon to get 350 kids signed up to be a part of the 35 teams that were involved.

He remembers coaches trying to draft kids as they sorted out the teams, but coaches usually prevented any one team from becoming too stacked.

Even when Frank's own kids grew up out of the program, Frank still served on the board for a total of nine years while his wife, Carolin, helped run the concession stand.

Today, Frank fondly looks back at his time on the board saying that he has made life-long friends through the ball programs.

The Warrior Little League/Town Team board would like to thank Frank for his years of volunteerism and being this year's First Pitch honoree.
