COACHES CODE OF ETHICS
The following are ethics established by the Warrior Little League/Town Team board to serve as guidance for COACHES to follow during the course of the season in order align with the mission of the Little League/Town Team programs.
*TT denotes ethics that only apply to Town Teams
Mission:
The vision of the Warrior LL/TT is to focus on individual growth of skills by promoting teamwork and pride to ultimately empower each athlete. In turn, we create a family culture of sustainable growth for the program.
PLANNING AND PREPARATION
-
I will properly plan and prepare for practices that we have scheduled for our team. This could include utilizing the Dominate the Diamond program that is accessible to me.
-
I will do my best to recognize each athlete’s current level of individual skills and prepare practices that help prepare them to improve those skills.
-
In order to run efficient practices and games, I understand our equipment needs to be in good working condition. I will report any equipment needs to the board, but I understand taking good care of our current equipment helps all programs financially and ensures equipment can be used long-term.
-
TT - In preparation for games, I understand kids cannot acquire new skills unless they are put to the test during games. Therefore, equal playing time is made a priority over winning. If kids don’t get to play, they are less likely to stay with the sport as they get older which hinders the growth of our program.
COMMUNICATION
-
I will communicate through GameChanger in a timely manner taking into consideration parents’ busy schedules.
-
TT - If extra opportunities arise for practices or skills development (extra practices, camps, etc.), I will make sure these opportunities are communicated to ALL athletes and parents, not a select few.
-
During practices and games, I will use language that is appropriate for the age-level of athletes that I’m working with.
-
I will refrain from swearing or using derogatory language of any kind in any of my communication with players or parents (this includes during practices and games).
-
TT - I will utilize the GameChanger app to communicate our teams’ practice and games schedule.
SPORTSMANSHIP
-
I will practice and model good sportsmanship for my players during practices and games. Athletes learn by what I do, and not just what I say.
-
If a player demonstrates poor sportsmanship, I will hold them accountable for their actions in a supportive way by talking with them (and parents if necessary). I understand kids are still learning and they need the necessary support when learning good sportsmanship.
