2024 - Dr. Ken Reimer
Ken, Dr. Reimer has had a legacy of service that stretches back to the 1970s when he first began his involvement with the youth ball program. Back in those early days, the program was solely focused on baseball. However, it eventually expanded to softball in his tenure of 10 to 15 years. His contribution not only broaden the scope of the program, but also left an incredible mark on the lives of countless young athletes.
Reflecting on those formative years, Doc Reimer finally reminisces about the bustling atmosphere of ball fields. With over 300 enthusiastic youngsters hailing from Elkader, Garnavillo, Elkport, Littleport, Volga, St. Olaf, and Farmersburg the games brought the communities together in a shared love of America's pastime.
Behind the scenes, Reimer, along with his wife Alice, and a team of devoted volunteers work tirelessly to ensuring this cooperation of the program from assembling teams to printing shirts and meticulously preparing the fields for each game. Their efforts were instrumental in nurturing the budding talents of young athletes.
It is in recognition of these countless hours in a selfless dedication that Doc Rimer has been chosen as the 2024 first pitch honoree. His commitment to the youth ball program exemplifies the true spirit of community. And with that we want to thank Mr. Doc Reimer.
