The Warrior Little League/Town Team board had two board members step down since this past season. Andy Loan and Shelly Bushkofsky each served two years on the board and were integral in growth of the youth ball programs.
In seeking new members, an email went out to all youth baseball and softball parents for any inquiries. Brian Koth and Joel Everitt each responded.
Here are their email responses when asked what experience do they have and how would they uphold the Warrior Little League/Town Team vision "to focus on the individual growth of skills by promoting teamwork and pride to ultimately empower each athlete. In turn, we create a family culture of sustainable growth for the program."
Brian's response:
I am submitting my name for consideration for one of the board vacancies.
In my opinion, Baseball/Softball is the greatest game ever invented. It can be played by children as young as pre-school age and it can continue to be played as long as a person is physically able. It is "America's Pastime" and enjoyed by millions. My passion for baseball runs deep and its roots go back to my own childhood. I firmly believe every child should have the opportunity to play and find enjoyment in it. The foundations for a successful person can be found in playing a team sport and the foundations for a successful high school program are laid at the Little League level. When my older children were kids, I joined the Strawberry Point Little League Board. Eventually I was elevated to President and then later became the commissioner of the league we were a part of at the time. My greatest fulfillment was ensuring that the Little League moved forward so future generations could flourish and continue the tradition. Little League baseball/softball is a cornerstone of small town living and I hope you are willing to give me an opportunity to serve this time-honored tradition. Thank you.
Joel's response:
Growing up in the Warrior family myself and playing on the Town teams way back in the late 80s, I feel like I understand the Warrior way very well. As an adult I served on the Jr. Stars little league board and was also a coach for several years in pretty much every age group from Tball to player pitch league.
After a move back into the Central School district we're honored to see that the Warrior way really hasn't changed and that I'd be honored to help it continue to thrive and hopefully continue all the great traditions that made the Warrior way so highly respected by everyone.
Both Brian and Joel come to the board with previous Little League board experience in other communities. Their experience and passion for the sport is exciting for the current board since this could generate potential new ideas for the Little League and Town Teams and continue to grow our programs.
We welcome both Brian and Joel to the board!
