Reimer to Throw Out 2024 First Pitch

Jack Dittmer, Johnny Logan, and Dr. Reimer

In a celebration of community spirit and dedication, Dr. Ken "Doc" Reimer has been announced as this year's esteemed first pitch honoree. Known affectionately as "Doc" by many, Reimer's legacy of service stretches back to the 1970s, when he first began his involvement with the youth ball program.

Back in those early days, the program was solely focused on baseball. However, it eventually expanded to include softball during his tenure of 10-15 years. His contribution not only broadened the scope of the program but also left an indelible mark on the lives of countless young athletes.

Reflecting on those formative years, Doc Reimer fondly reminisces about the bustling atmosphere of the ballfields. With over 300 enthusiastic youngsters hailing from Elkadar, Garnavillo, Elkport, Littleport, and Volga, the games brought the community together in a shared love of America's past time.

Behind the scenes, Reimer, alongside his dedicated wife Alice and a team of devoted volunteers, worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth operation of the program. From assembling teams to printing shirts and meticulously preparing the fields for each game, their efforts were instrumental in nurturing the budding talents of the young athletes.

It is in recognition of these countless hours of selfless dedication that Doc Reimer has been chosen as the 2024 First Pitch Honoree. His commitment to the youth ball program exemplifies the true spirit of community.

Doc Reimer will be throwing out the first pitch on Tuesday, April 16th at 5:00pm located at the city ballfields.
